Follow this road for about 1/2 mile. You will pass over some railroad tracks and through a gate. When the road deadends, turn left into the WAR MEMORIAL PARK parking lot. You have made it to the park and the USS BATFISH!!
FYI In case anyone is interested in updating there's It's on sale till the end of September$99 I got this info from the parts guy at VW said it would be cheaper for me to orderLet us know how it works after you install. Mine can always get me to where I want to go but takes some really odd routes sometimes.
Like 10 turns through side roads versus driving maybe 1 mile further on a 3 lane boulevard to get to the same freeway entrance. I've tried all the various route preferences but they all give strange routes. I believe you can get mexico too, it just costs extra $$. Personally I would leave it alone and use google maps for the hard to find places. Current maps don't stay current very long. It's not just the maps it updates but your points of interest which I use when traveling to find restaurants & gas stations etc. It's a lot easier to use something installed in your car that has an easily readable screen versus trying read the small screen of your phone while driving (which is illegal in CA)Let us know how it works after you install. Depending on what it's set on It will do what you describe aboveUpdate is Version 6 & Just called & verified this have mine in a couple days. You guys do this with the car off and just radio on right?
No need to have the car running the whole time.Any updates on improvements with this new version? It's likely just a map update and nothing more. Functionality will still be the same.
I assume it just adds new roads, takes away ones that no longer exist or have been renamed?Car does not have to be on either. My suggestion is for $200, set that aside, save up a bit more and just get a new headunit with an OEM feel or better and one that uses something you can update yourself like Google Maps, etc. Our OEM nav vs the aftermarket selection is mediocre at best, it's ridiculous.Other headunits are getting progressively better, although still pricey, unless you cheap out for something chinese.
Even going so far as to display gauges by tapping the OBDII port. Makes the RNS-315 seem worthless with its less than acceptable nav system, and poopie other features. I would like to sell it, personally and get something better. You guys do this with the car off and just radio on right? So I got my update card and tried to install it. It's stuck about 80% after 2 hrs. Don't see why mine would take longer than others update would. Is there some back out plan to start over? There's a cancel button but sure hope that doesn't ruin the cardHad to eventually try the cancel button but it doesn't do anything but sit there with no results on the same screen. Turned the car off for awhile and the install process restarted like it's supposed to except now it does some weird reboot loop 5 times.
5th time it will stop rebooting itself but the progress meter just sits there at 80% again. I've let it sit for 3 hours and still nothing.Any thoughts on what might be wrong? Car is coded for LED tails/ROW settings.
Vw Navigation Update Sd Card
Wonder if that has to do with it since the card is specifically for North America? So I attempted to update the navigation software with my new $99 version 8 SD card I purchased from navigation.com/vw/drive. It wasn't a pleasant experience. I started the update, left the car unlocked, went for a run, came back and the head unit display was off. I pressed the power button and it resumed. Went back into my place for about an hour then checked on the progress.
Again, the head unit display was out. I pressed the power button and it started all over from the beginning. I didn't want to remove the SD card as the instructions say that it would ruin the card and remove all prior info in the navigation rendering it useless. I just turned it off and figured it would resume again in the morning on my way to work.
The next morning I fired up my rig only to hear it barely kicking over. The update attempt the night before drained my battery (Deka ETX16). The update resumed and got to about 3/4 complete but I got to work and figured I'd finished at lunch.
So lunch time comes, I fire up the car and the mutha phuckn update started all over again.:mad0259: I was ready to throw in the towel but I let it update and it got about half way complete before I had to go back to work. Left work in the evening and the update was still half way.:) I took the long way home and just left the update finish. Success!:clap:TLDR; make sure your battery is good and fully charged, monitor the update the entire way through, or start the update before your 1.5 hour plus drive and you'll be successful!Let the beers flow.I deserve it:D. Seems like the easiest way since my battery is questionable.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. I ended up just leaving the car in accessory mode while updating and messing with a ram mount I just got. So it updated in about an hour. Haven't really tested it yet but the radio works still so I didn't break anything!from my iPhone using TapatalkSo Version 8 is the latest, I only updated mine a little over year ago with V6 and had an issue recently where it wouldn't take me to the exact address on this very long street just the street itself.
